Women’s Tennis to Host Campbell in 2025 Home Opener

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- UNCG opened its 2025 season last week with a 7-0 loss at Louisville on Saturday and 4-1 loss at Eastern Kentucky on Sunday.
- Olivia Gallagher recorded the lone point for the Spartans last week in a 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-2 win over Masha Fedenko of EKU on Sunday.
- Elisabeth Birkevold and Lauren Thomson tied the doubles competition up at 1-1 with a 6-4 win over Izem Elif Olcer and Sasha Parkhomenko, but EKU was able to bounce back to earn the doubles point.
- UNCG concluded the spring 2024 season with a 3-19 overall record and 1-6 mark in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
- The squad finished the 2024 season falling 4-0 to ETSU in the SoCon Tournament.
- Thomson led the Spartans with a 9-10 overall record in singles last season.
- The Spartans are returning seven members from last season's roster and welcoming two newcomers.
- Head Coach Mat Iandolo is in his first season with UNCG.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING CAMELS
- Campbell began its 2025 season by facing two nationally ranked opponents.
- The Camels fell at No. 6 North Carolina, 7-0, on Sunday, Jan. 12 in Chapel Hill and to No. 14 N.C. State, 7-0, in Raleigh on Friday, Jan. 17.
- Campbell concluded the 2023-24 season at 12-9 overall.
- The squad defeated Towson, 4-0, in the first round of 2024 CAA Tournament, but fell 4-1 to William & Mary in the quarterfinal matchup.
- The Spartans and Camels saw each other twice in the 2024 fall season at the Coastal Carolina Invite and the UNCW Invitational.
- In addition, Campbell also took on the Wofford Invite from Oct. 4-6 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, during its fall slate.
- Campbell will return home to host Mount Olive on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 11:00 a.m.
- The Camels took a 7-0 matchup with the Spartans last season on Jan. 28, 2024, at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
