2024 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-America Teams AnnouncedGREENSBORO, N.C. –
UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball recent graduate Caleb Cozart was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-America first team, as announced by the organization on Friday.Cozart is the sixth Spartan to earn ABCA/Rawlings All-American honors, and joins Andrew Moritz from 2018 as the second to reside on the first team. It comes just two days after he was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Association (NCBWA) All-America first team. In doing so, Cozart is the first Spartan to earn a spot on the first team for both organizations.
"If you had asked me back in 2019-2020 with everything that was happening to me, if I would be in the place I am now, have had the season I did, and people around me, I would've said you're crazy. But look at what happened now," said Cozart.
The High Point, North Carolina, native paced the Spartans offensively this season in batting average (.332), slugging percentage (.742) and on-base percentage (.474). Cozart was recently named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Coaches' Player of the Year. He broke UNCG's single-season record for home runs (22) when he hit his 18th of the season on April 24 against High Point. Cozart also tied Kennedy Jones (2022-23) for the program's single-season high for RBI (73) during the SoCon Tournament at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina.
In just two seasons as a Spartan, Cozart stands at fifth on UNCG's top-10 list for home runs with 29. He earned spots on four all-conference teams this season, including being voted to the coaches and media first teams as a designated hitter as well as both second teams as a first baseman. Cozart was named SoCon Player of the Week twice this season (Feb. 19 & April 29) and was also crowned Perfect Game Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 20.
Cozart was named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, which is considered the most prestigious award in college baseball and given to the top player based on two rounds of national voting by NCBWA members.
