Four From Baseball Named to All-SoCon Teams
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Four student-athletes from the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team were named to All-Southern Conference (SoCon) Teams, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Senior right-handed pitcher Danny Thompson Jr. earned a spot on the All-SoCon First Team and junior infielder Jacob Budzik was named to the All-SoCon Defensive Team. First baseman Parker Wight and catcher JJ Parsons landed together on the All-SoCon Freshman Team.
UNCG (21-32, 9-12 SoCon) finished the regular season as the No. 6 seed after dropping two out of three games in a series against Western Carolina last weekend. The Spartans will be competing for their fourth SoCon Tournament title after previously winning in 1998, 2018 and 2022.

- Ranks 13th in NCAA Division I with a 12.62 strikeouts per nine innings

- Owns 130 strikeouts in 94.1 innings pitched at UNCG
Jacob Budzik

- Has totaled 93 assists and 39 putouts in 138 chances
- Just six errors in 38 games played and started this season
- Owns a .957 fielding percentage and 32 games played without committing an error
- Has had a hand in 10 of the Spartans' 29 double plays this season
- Career .934 fielding percentage with just 11 errors in 71 games played
Parker Wight
All-SoCon Freshman Team

- Leads the Spartans with nine home runs, 28 RBI and .484 slugging percentage
- Also leading the team in total bases (91) and games played (52)
- Ranks second on the Spartans with a .399 on-base percentage
- Hit two home runs in a single game on March 29 at VMI
- Owns a .981 fielding percentage with 352 putouts and 19 assists
JJ Parsons

- Has played in 21 games and made a total of 19 starts
- Tied for fourth on the Spartans with four home runs
