Men’s Golf Set for Elon Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team is set to take on the Elon Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, North Carolina, hosted by Elon.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team is set to take on the Elon Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, North Carolina, hosted by Elon.
 
The team was originally scheduled to compete at the Quail Valley Invitational Sunday and Monday. However, that tournament was cancelled due to weather and the squad will now be competing in the Elon Invitational.

THE FORMAT
Two rounds will be played on Monday with round one being a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and round two will also be a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday's third round will be an 8:00 a.m. start off holes one and ten.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS

  • UNCG last competed at the Rod Myers Invitational from Sept. 22-23 at Duke Golf Course in Durham, North Carolina.
  • The Spartans finished in 11th place at the two-day event.
  • UNCG carded rounds of 296-287-296 for 15-over-par (879).
  • The Spartans finished second in the field with 171 pars.
  • Jack Marcotte paced the Spartans to finish in a tie for 30th place with rounds of 77-72-70 for three-over-par (219).

LAST TIME AT ELON INVITATIONAL

  • Four Spartans competed as individuals in last season's Elon Invitational.
  • Alumni Tommy Lamb finished on top for the Spartans in a tie for sixth place after notching a seven-under-par (206). He recorded his best collegiate score in the opening round of the tournament with a five-under-par (66).
  • Keenan Royalty carded a two-under-par (211) over the three rounds. His best score came in the final round with a three-under-par (68).
  • The Spartans went up against 95 competitors at the invitational.

Individual Spartans will compete at the App State Intercollegiate from Oct. 19-20 at Cedar Rock Country Club in Lenoir, North Carolina, to conclude the 2024 fall schedule.
