Men’s Golf Earns Second Place Finish at Stitch Intercollegiate
RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team earned a second-place finish at the Stitch Intercollegiate on Saturday in Raleigh, North Carolina, at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team earned a second-place finish at the Stitch Intercollegiate on Saturday in Raleigh, North Carolina, at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
TEAM
- UNCG carded rounds of 285-290-281 over the two-day tournament for the second-place finish and an overall score of four-over-par (856).
- Lipscomb finished atop the 13-team leaderboard behind a one-over-par (853).
- The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Wofford earned fifth place with a 15-over-par (867), while Mercer finished in 11th with an overall score of 31-over-par (883).
- The Spartans paced all teams with a 4.12 average on par fours and a 4.90 average on par fives.
- UNCG finished second in the field with 181 total pars.
INDIVIDUAL
- Jake Lewis, Kelvin Hernandez and Colin Dutton finished on top for the Spartans in a tie for eighth place with a one-over-par (214).
- Lewis carded rounds of 71-72-71 in the two-day tournament.
- Hernandez recorded a 72-73 in the first two rounds before moving up nine positions in the final round with a two-under-par (69).
- Hernandez finished second in the field with 40 total pars.
- Dutton moved up a total of 20 spots in the third round behind a final round score of three-under-par (68). He posted a two-over-par (73) in the first and second rounds.
- Jack Marcotte and Keenan Royalty both finished in a tie for 26th place after notching a five-over-par (218).
- B.J. Boyce came in just behind Marcotte and Royalty to earn a tie for 38th place. Boyce recorded an overall score of seven-over-par (220).
- Will Guidry rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans to earn a tie for 38th place. Guidry recorded his first collegiate hole-in-one in the second round of the tournament on hole six. He finished the tournament with an eight-over-par (221).
