Lewis Named SoCon Freshman of the Year, Dutton & Marcotte Tabbed to All-SoCon Team
SoCon Announces Men's Golf Postseason Awards SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
Jake Lewis of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Freshman of the Year and to the All-Freshman Team, while Colin Dutton and Jack Marcotte were tabbed to the All-SoCon Team, the league announced Tuesday.Lewis is the seventh Spartan in UNCG program history to be named SoCon Freshman of the Year. In addition, it is the second-consecutive year that a Spartan has earned the honor as Kelvin Hernandez was named SoCon Freshman of the Year in the 2023-24 season.
UNCG finished in second place in the 2025 SoCon Championships with an overall score of 18-under-par (846) behind rounds of 277-285-284. The last time the Spartans earned a second-place finish in the SoCon Championships was in the 2021-22 season.
The Spartans carded four first-place finishes in the 2024-25 season. UNCG finished first at the Sea Palms Invitational on March 15, 2025, the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Feb. 25, 2025, the Elon Invitational on Oct. 15, 2024, and the Bryan National Collegiate on Sept. 10, 2024. This was the first time in UNCG men's golf program history the team has collected four regular season tournament wins.
The squad has earned five SoCon Golfer of the Week recognitions this season: Lewis (March 19, 2025 & April 2, 2025), Marcotte & Dutton (Feb. 26, 2024) and Hernandez (Sept. 11, 2024). This is the first time in UNCG program history that the team has earned five SoCon Golfer of the Week recognitions in a single season.

- Ranks ninth in the SoCon with a 72.38 average.
- Earned his best tournament finish at the Sea Palms Invitational on March 15th in a tie for second place.
- Carded his career best round score in the opening round of the Sea Palms Invitational on March 13th with an nine-under-par (63).
- Lewis concluded the SoCon Championships in a tie for 10th place after posting a four-under-par (212) with rounds of 68-73-71.

- Placed first in the 2025 SoCon Championships with a 10-under-par (206) to earn an automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Regionals.
- His six-under-par (66) in the first round of the SoCon Championships matched his collegiate best and marked a new round best at UNCG.
- Seventh in the SoCon with a 72.06 stroke average.
- Earned a tie for fourth place at the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Feb. 25.
- Named SoCon Golfer of the Week on Feb. 26.

- Finished third in the SoCon and first on the team with a 71.53 stroke average.

- Recorded a season-best five-under-par (67) on three occasions (Elon Invitational, Dorado Beach Collegiate & SoCon Championships).
