Men’s Tennis Falls in SoCon Quarterfinals to Conclude 2023-24 Season
CHATTANOOGA, TENN. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team concluded its 2023-24 season in a loss to No. 1 ETSU, 4-0 in The Southern Conference (SoCon) Tournament on Thursday afternoon at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Bucs claimed the first match of the day after Dimitri Badra and Adam Nagoudi defeated Luke Thomson and Tymofiy Khrystyuk, 6-3 on court two. However, John Gabelic and Hampus Johansson brought the Spartans back into doubles action by defeating Pedro Cressoni and Lucas Britez on court three, 6-4. ETSU was able to earn the doubles point on court one after Milledge Cossu and Francisco Lamas earned the victory over David Flisberg and Christopher Johns, 7-5 on court one.
After heading into singles up 1-0, the Bucs were able to claim the 4-0 victory by earning the first three singles matches. First, Lamas defeated Tejas Wall, 6-0, 6-1 on court five. Britez followed in behind to earn the win over Thomson, 6-1, 6-1 on court six. Cossu gave ETSU the match clinching point in a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Gabelic on court two. Khrystyuk remained in an unfinished back-and-forth battle with Badra, 4-6, 3-2.
