Leetham Leads Women’s Golf to Fifth Place Finish at Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational
GREENSBORO, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team finished fifth at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, hosted by Mercer at Great Waters Course over the weekend.
GREENSBORO, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team finished fifth at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, hosted by Mercer at Great Waters Course over the weekend.
TEAM
- The Spartans finished fifth at 42-over-par (906), four strokes behind Boston College (902) and three in front of Tulane (909).
- UNCG jumped from a tie for 10th to alone in eighth on Saturday before climbing up to a fifth-place finish on Sunday.
- The Spartans shot the second-best team round for the final day at four-over-par (292).
- UNCG carded rounds of 315-299-292 in the tournament.
- The Spartans were the best team on par-five holes at the tournament. On par fives, UNCG finished one-under-par as a team with a 4.98 stroke average.
- UNCG ended up in third for total pars with 169. They had 60 on Saturday before concluding the event with 59 more on Sunday.
- Regarding the three other Southern Conference (SoCon) teams in the field, Mercer tied for third at 38-over-par (902), Wofford was 12th at 65-over-par (929) and East Tennessee State finished 14th at 81-over-par (947).
- Western Kentucky snuck into first on the final day to win by six strokes at 20-over-par (884).
INDIVIDUAL
- Freshman Lulu Leetham leaped from a tie for 41st after two rounds to finish tied for 20th. She finished 11-over-par (227) with rounds of 79-77-71. She also tied for fourth in the tournament with 38 pars.
- Sophomore Kasey McIlvaine finished 12-over-par (228) to tie for 27th. She led the tournament on par-five holes at four-under par, averaging 4.6 strokes per par-five hole. She finished with round scores of 78-77-73.
- Junior Elle Burnette ended the tournament third on the Spartans and tied for 30th overall. She shot 13-over-par (229) and carded round scores of 79-71-79.
- Senior Ava Romfo and junior Julia Baeumken ended up tied for 36th at 14-over-par (230). Romfo shot 79-80-81 while Baeumken posted 79-74-77.
- Charlotte Perkins of Florida Atlantic finished at the top of the player leaderboard at one-over-par (217).
