Five Spartans Reach Double-Figures in 86-51 Win Over Carolina University
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team took down Carolina University, 86-51, in Fleming Gymnasium Friday night to conclude the non-conference slate.
After leading tonight's game with 10 rebounds, Khalis Cain surpassed 1,000 rebounds in her collegiate career. Cain is the third player in program history to reach the 1,000 career rebounds milestone and leads the Division I era in total rebounds with 1,003.
Cain registered her second double-double of the season and 16th of her career with her 10 rebounds and 10 points.
Jaila Lee and Jayde Gamble led the Spartans in scoring with 14 points apiece. Makiah Asidanya followed closely behind with 13 points. Cain and Nia Howard rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Spartans with 10 points each.

However, the second quarter was the biggest battle between both teams with Carolina University outscoring UNCG, 20-18. Lee added two more points for the Spartans at the charity stripe before halftime to give the Blue & Gold the 13-point advantage, 40-27.
The Spartans came out of the locker room and outscored the Bruins 23-12 in the third stanza. Gamble's layup at 9:16 began a 10-2 run for UNCG to start the second half. UNCG notched 10 unanswered points to close out the third quarter, which featured two three-pointers from Asidanya. The Spartans held the 63-39 lead at the break.
