GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team is set to enter the 2024 Postseason WNIT as an automatic qualifier. The Spartans will play their first-round game on the road at North Carolina A&T on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. in Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, N.C.

LAST TIME OUT FOR UNCG

• UNCG most recently finished as the runner-up in the 2024 Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship.
• No. 2 UNCG fell to No. 1 Chattanooga, 69-60 in the Championship game.
• The contest against the Mocs was the seventh time the Spartans have made it to the SoCon Championship in program history.
• Ayanna Khalfani led the Spartans with 15 points on the day, while Isys Grady followed closely behind with 12 points.
• Khalfani and Jayde Gamble led the team with eight boards apiece.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS

• UNCG finished the regular season with a 19-10 overall record and 8-6 record in the SoCon.

• The 2023-24 season marks Head Coach Trina Patterson's third season with 20 or more wins at UNCG.

• The Spartans finished the season with a 15-1 home record. This is the best home record for the Spartans since the 2001-02 season, when the team went 12-1 at home.
• As a team, UNCG is ranked 34^th nationally with a 14.1 offensive rebounds per game average. In addition, they are ranked 20^th nationally with a 56.2 scoring defense average. 
• Khalis Cain is ranked 25^th in the country with a 3.7 offensive rebounds per game average. Cain leads the team with 235 total boards on the season.
• Gamble leads the SoCon with 68 steals on the season.
• Gamble paces the Spartans with 455 points on the season.
• Khalfani leads the team with 115 dimes.
• Khalfani was the only Spartan to be named the SoCon Player of the Week this season. Her weekly mention came after earning back-to-back double-doubles in the team's win over Samford and Mercer.
• Khalfani and Gamble both earned a spot on the SoCon postseason awards list. Khalfani was tabbed the SoCon Defensive Player of the Year, Second Team All-Conference, and All-Defensive Team, while Gamble earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference list.
• The Spartans were picked to finish sixth in the 2023-24 SoCon Preseason Media Poll and the Preseason Coaches' Poll but finished the season as the No. 2 seed.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES

• The Aggies will welcome the Spartans on Friday with a 20-11 record on the season. 
• N.C. A&T made it to the semifinal round of the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Basketball Tournament, falling to Stony Brook, 59-51.
• The Aggies rank in the top 50 nationally over seven categories: field goal percentage defense (34.3), free throw attempts per game (19.58), free throws made per game (14.58), defensive rebounds per game (27.9), rebounds per game (41.00), scoring defense (56.3) and three-point percentage defense (28.4).
• Jordyn Dorsey stands out at 34^th nationally with 174 free throw attempts this season.
• D'Mya Tuckers paces the Aggies at 40^th in the nation with an 85.6 free throw percentage.
• Dorsey is leading the Aggies with 401 points, 12.9 points per game average and 106 assists.
• Chaniya Clark paces the team with 256 boards and 37 blocks.

LAST TIME AT THE WNIT FOR THE SPARTANS

• This season's WNIT selection is the second time UNCG women's basketball has competed in the postseason tournament in program history.
• The Spartans last earned a spot in the WNIT back in the 2001-02 season when UNCG fell in a close battle with Virginia, 51-45.

SERIES HISTORY VS NC A&T
The Spartans and Aggies last met in Fleming Gym in the 2020-21 season when UNCG came away with the 49-46 victory. UNCG holds the overall series record against N.C. A&T at 14-6.
