Women’s Golf Takes Part in GolfWeek Invitational

The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team will begin its 2025-26 season by competing in the Golfweek Fall Challenge from Sept. 7-9 at Caledonia Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team will begin its 2025-26 season by competing in the Golfweek Fall Challenge from Sept. 7-9 at Caledonia Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. 
 
Course: Caledonia Golf Club/Pawleys Island, S.C.  
Par / Yardage: Par 70/6,526 yards

THE FORMAT 
The 20 teams will compete in three total rounds over three days on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. All three days will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

SPARTANS LAST SEASON 

  •  Junior Kasey Mcllvaine led UNCG and tied for seventh at four-over-par (220) with round scores of 73-75-72 at the National Golf Invitational.  

  • Mcllvaine also led the Spartans at The Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship, tying for seventh at nine-over-par (225) after carding rounds of 74-77-74.  

  • UNCG finished in fourth place out of nine teams in the 2025 SoCon Championships, posting a 57-over-par (921) and a 303-314-304 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. This placing was the highest in program history since 2013 and fell three strokes shy of third-place Mercer (918).   

  • The Spartans also won the Puerto Rico Shootout on March 5, 2025, with current sophomore Lulu Leetham finishing runner-up in the event.  

  • Leetham also posted a four-under-par (140) with rounds of 69-71. UNCG also carded a second-place finish at its home event of the UNCG Collegiate on October 22, 2024, finishing nine-under-par (851) and four-strokes shy of the lead. 

LAST TIME AT GOLFWEEK FALL CHALLENGE 

  • UNCG jumped from tied for ninth in the first round, to ending the tournament alone at third place after a historic 13-under-par (271) team effort in round two. 

  • Finishing eight-over-par in the tournament, the Spartans finished five strokes behind UNC Wilmington (855) and 10 behind tournament-winner Campbell (850). 

  • Elle Burnette posted rounds of 74-67-72 and tied for 11th in the event. 

  • McIlvaine followed behind her finishing in a tie for 45th at 12-over-par (225) over the three rounds.

UNCG will next turn its attention to the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Arkansas from Sept. 29- Oct. 1 in Fayetteville Arkansas, at Blessings Golf Course.
