Women’s Golf Prepares for Golfweek Fall Challenge
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team heads to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, for its next test with the Golfweek Fall Challenge at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club from Sunday to Tuesday.
This will be freshman Sophie Lauture's first time competing with the UNCG women's golf program.

Par / Yardage: 71 par / 6,029 yards.

THE FORMAT
The three-day, 16-team and 54-hole tournament gets underway on Sunday at 7:45 a.m. with one round being played on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

The last time the Spartans played at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, they earned a second-place finish while competing from March 27-29, 2023. Romfo led UNCG's effort, shooting a two-over-par (215) for a tie of fifth place. Holcomb finished four-over-par (217) the last time the Spartans played the course for a share of 11th place.

LAST TIME OUT FOR UNCG
- The Spartans finished fourth at their first tournament of the season, competing in a one-day, 16-team and 36-hole event with the Tiger Classic at John E. Walker Golf Course hosted by Clemson back on Aug. 26.
- UNCG finished eight-over-par (584) as a team.
- In her Spartan debut, sophomore Kasey McIlvaine paced UNCG and finished in a tie for 14th after shooting a 73 in round one and 72 in round two to finish one-over-par (145). She totaled seven birdies in the two rounds of action.
- Seniors Holcomb and Romfo finished tied for second on the Spartans and 18th individually at two-over-par (146). Holcomb shot a 74 in the first round and 72 in the second while Romfo did the opposite. Holcomb totaled nine birdies while Romfo recorded seven on the day.
- Sophomore Elle Burnette finished five-over-par (149) to tie for 31st. Burnette recorded five birdies throughout the day.
- Junior Julia Baeumken concluded with a six-over-par (150) performance that landed her tied for 41st. She totaled four birdies, including three in the first round and one in the second.
- UNCG totaled four top-five finishes a season ago.
- The Spartans experienced their best finish as a team at the Elon Women's Invitational, finishing second out of 15 teams last September.

The Spartans will head to Greenville, North Carolina, to compete in the Pirate Collegiate from Sept. 30 to Oct. 1 at Greenville Country Club.
