Women’s Tennis to Begin 2025 Spring Campaign at Louisville & Eastern Kentucky

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will begin the 2025 spring campaign with a trip to Kentucky to take on Louisville on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center and Eastern Kentucky on Sunday at noon at Greg Adams Tennis Center.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS

  • UNCG concluded the 2024 fall season with the CCU Battle at the Beach, hosted by Coastal Carolina at Stevens Tennis Complex from Nov. 8-9
  • Across the two-day event, the Spartans captured two doubles wins and seven singles wins.
  • Alexandra Dodashev led the squad with three singles win on the weekend.
  • The Spartans competed in a total of four tournaments this past fall with the Tribe Invitational, ITA Chapel Hill Regional, UNC Wilmington Tournament and the CCU Battle at the Beach.
  • UNCG concluded the spring 2024 season with a 3-19 overall record and 1-6 mark in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
  • The squad finished the 2024 season falling 4-0 to ETSU in the SoCon Tournament.
  • Lauren Thomson led the Spartans with a 9-10 overall record in singles last season.
  • Current sophomore Sydney Bly and recent graduate Juliana Craft led the team in doubles with a 5-15 overall record.
  • The Spartans are returning seven members from last season's roster and welcoming two newcomers.
  • Head Coach Mat Iandolo is in his first season with UNCG. 

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS

  • Louisville competed in a total of five tournaments in the fall of 2024 with the Miami of Ohio Invitational, Martha Thorn Invitational, ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, Robert Alison Fall Classic and the ITA Sectional Championships.
  • Lika Peresypkina returns as the leading scorer in singles from the 2024 season with a 7-14 overall record.
  • Allie Gretkowski and Peresypkina were the best doubles duo from last season with a 9-11 finish.
  • Peresypkina tallied the most doubles wins in the spring of 2024, going 10-12 overall.
  • Louisville will take on Middle Tennessee on Friday, Jan. 24 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, after facing UNCG.

SCOUTING THE COLONELS

  • Eastern Kentucky took on two tournaments this past fall in the Lipscomb Invitational and the MTSU Invitational.
  • Izem Elif Olcer and Masha Fedenko return as the best singles players from last season with 10 wins apiece.
  • Marilou Cote recorded the most doubles wins for the Colonels last season with a 10-14 overall record.
  • The best doubles team of last year was Olcer and Cote with a 5-1 overall record.
  • The Colonels started off the 2025 spring season with a 6-1 loss at Western Kentucky on Thursday at Bowling Green.
  • Cote picked up the lone singles win for EKU in the match, defeating Mia Miranda, 5-7, 6-3, 10-5.
  • On Friday, EKU will take on Cincinnati at 1:00 p.m. in Ohio and Northern Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. in Kentucky, before hosting the Spartans on Sunday at noon.

The Spartans will return to Greensboro for a six-match home stretch starting with Campbell on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1:00 p.m. at either the Piedmont Tennis Center or the UNCG Tennis Courts.
