Women’s Tennis to Conclude Fall Slate at UNCW Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will conclude its fall slate at the UNC Wilmington (UNCW) Invitational from Friday to Sunday in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the UNCW Tennis Courts.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. each day. Each day will see three singles matches. Friday's play will hold three doubles matches and Saturday will see six doubles contests across six total teams competing in the tournament.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- The Spartans have competed in three tournaments so far in the 2025 fall season.
- UNCG began the fall campaign by hosting the UNCG Tournament from Sept. 13-14 at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
- Sophia Cedeno led the Spartans by capturing two singles wins on the weekend. Doubles duo Sara Kostic and Kayley Bushnell paced the squad with two doubles victories over the two days.
- The Spartans also competed at the Elon Tournament from Sept. 19-20 in Elon, North Carolina.
- Cedeno led the Spartans with two singles wins, while Bushnell captured one singles win in the tournament.
- UNCG most recently participated in the ITA Chapel Hill Regional from Oct. 16-18 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
- Lauren Thomson and Cedeno led the Spartans by collecting one singles win apiece in the tournament.
- UNCG concluded the 2025 regular season 3-18 overall and 0-7 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
- Thomson finished on top for the Spartans in singles for the second consecutive year after tallying eight wins on the 2025 campaign.
- Sydney Bly led the team last season with nine total doubles wins.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- UNCW – The Seahawks opened their fall slate in Greensboro, North Carolina, at the UNCG Tournament on Sept. 13-14. Since coming to Greensboro, UNCW has competed in the Blue and Gold Invitational, hosted by Navy in Annapolis, Maryland from Sept. 26-28 and most recently the ITA Chapel Hill Regional from Oct. 16-19 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Seahawks concluded the 2025 slate 9-7 overall and 6-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). UNCW fell to Charleston, 4-1, in the CAA Quarterfinals to wrap up the season. Elif Albayrak, Alex Borcich and Lucia Gomez return as the leaders in singles after the trio notched 10 wins apiece last season. Alicia Eberwein returns as the overall leader in doubles last year with 11.
- Seton Hall – The Pirates have competed in four tournaments this fall prior to heading to Wilmington. Seton Hall played in the Lehigh Hidden Duals in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania from Sept. 13 -14, the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Maryland from Sept. 26-28, the Villanova/Delaware Hidden Duals from Oct. 3-5 and most recently the ITA Regionals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Oct. 9-12. The Pirates concluded the 2025 schedule at 12-12 overall and 1-6 in the BIG EAST. Last season was concluded with a 4-2 loss to UConn in the quarterfinals of the 2025 BIG EAST Championship.
- Davidson – The Wildcats opened the fall season in Greensboro as the Spartans hosted the UNCG Tournament from Sept. 13-14. After that, they hosted the Atlantic 10 (A-10) Conference Masters from Oct. 3-5, before taking on the Elon Invitational from Oct. 4-5 and ITA Chapel Hill Regionals from Oct. 16-21. The Wildcats finished up the 2025 season 13-8 overall and 1-5 in the A-10. Kavya Patel and Savanna Kollock earned A-10 All-Conference selections last season. Davidson fell to Massachusetts, 4-1, in the A-10 Quarterfinals to conclude the 2025 campaign.
- Campbell – The Camels also opened their fall season at the UNCG Invite, before taking on the Coastal Carolina Invite from Oct. 3-4 and most recently the ITA Chapel Hill Regionals. Campbell wrapped up the 2025 season 8-9 overall and 3-2 in the CAA. Ilouna Aneca returns as the leader in singles from last season with eight wins. Jessia Maras returns this season after leading the squad with six doubles victories last year.
- North Carolina A&T – The Aggies began their fall slate at SoCon foe Furman's home fall tournament from Aug. 31-Sept. 1. North Carolina A&T also made the short trip across town to take on the UNCG Tournament before competing in the ITA Chapel Hill Regionals. The Aggies wrapped up the 2025 spring season at 9-10 overall and 0-4 in the CAA. Juana Gomez Weiss returns as the leading Aggie in singles last season with 11. Hana El Sherif returns to the court after pacing the squad with nine doubles wins last year.

UP NEXT
The Spartans will begin the 2026 campaign with a doubleheader in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Jan. 15. UNCG will first face Duquesne in a neutral site matchup before taking on the Virginia Cavaliers that afternoon.
