SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the second time this season and fourth time in her career, Allie Sweet of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.
Sweet stood out at the net for the Spartans this past week, notching three double-doubles, 76 kills, five service aces, 39 digs and six blocks. The outside hitter averaged 5.07 kills per set and 2.60 digs per set across 15 sets played. In addition, this past Saturday marked the sophomore's 10th career double-double and fifth this season.
"I am so grateful to receive this accolade this week," said Sweet. "Last weekend was a battle and we learned a lot from it. I can't wait to be back in the gym and keep grinding!"
Monday's recognition is the third SoCon Player of the Week recognition for the Spartans this season as Sweet was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week and Chloe Nussbaum earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week in the first round of weekly awards on Sept. 1.
