SoCon Announces Volleyball Players of the Week
 
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Freshman outside hitter Allie Sweet of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team was named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
 
The last time a Spartan earned a weekly honor was when Sweet earned SoCon Offensive Player of the Week back on Sept. 2.
 
"I am so grateful to be named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for the second time," said Sweet. "I couldn't have done it without my teammates." 
 
The Woodstock, Georgia, native led the Spartans with 40 kills and added three service aces and 22 digs on the week. She averaged 5.71 kills per set, 3.14 digs per set and 6.21 points per set across seven sets played. The freshman posted her third double-double of the season against Western Carolina on Saturday night with 23 kills and 13 digs.
 
Sweet is leading the SoCon in six statistical categories: attacks per set (13.73), kills per set (4.30), points (465.5), points per set (4.85), total attacks (1,318) and total kills (413).
 
In addition, she stands out nationally at second in attacks per set, third in total attacks, 18th in total kills and 21st in points.
