Joey DeAngelis '94 to Speak at Baseball’s 2025 First Pitch Dinner
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will host its annual First Pitch Dinner on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at the Greensboro Marriott Airport. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. before the event officially begins at 7:00 p.m.
Joey DeAngelis, a former UNCG baseball player (1991-94) and 2024 UNCG Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, will be the guest speaker at the event.
Neil Avent, who is a current scout for the Oakland Athletics and served as an assistant coach at UNCG from 1990 to 2003, will be the MC for the event. Avent played an integral role on the first Spartan teams to make the NCAA Regionals in 1994 and 1997.
"As we gear up for our fifth annual First Pitch Dinner, we are excited to have Joey DeAngelis speak to our guests and team," said Head Coach Cody Ellis. "We are thankful to have Neil Avent back as our MC, who has been a huge part of the history of UNCG Baseball. Our goal is to raise funds that directly impact our 2025 baseball team, which includes hotel stay, bus travel and meals for our games. We look forward to hosting another great event and to raise funds for these great Spartans!"
The event features a silent auction that people do not have to be in attendance to take part in bidding. Some highlighted items from the auction include a Chartered Fishing Trip, a Cal Ripken Jr. signed bat, custom-made UNCG cornhole boards, Buffalo Trace and more!
