Four From Baseball Collect Academic All-District® Honors
CSC Announces Baseball Academic All-District® Team
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team had four Spartans named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly CoSIDA, Academic All-District® team for baseball, announced by the organization on Tuesday.
To be eligible, nominated student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average in their second year at the current institution and must have played in 90 percent of the institution's games or made starts in 66 percent of the games. For a baseball pitcher to qualify, they must make 17 appearances or log 25 innings pitched.
Senior Mitchell Smith earned his second recognition from the association, while juniors Rob Ready, Danny Thompson Jr. and sophomore Jake Ogden received their first accolades from the CSC.
UNCG's four honorees brought The Southern Conference (SoCon) total to 15 awardees. Five were from Western Carolina, three were from Mercer, two were from Wofford and one was from VMI.

The CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in NCAA Division I.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® teams will be announced later in June.
