WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell 6-3 while facing the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a non-conference game on the road Tuesday night at David F. Couch Ballpark in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Wake Forest opened the scoring in the bottom half of the fourth inning when Luke Costello grounded out into a fielder's choice, which was enough to score Kade Lewis from third and make it 1-0.

UNCG answered with a run of its own in the fifth inning. Tyler Steele drove in the game-tying run when his single lined to right was enough to score Jacob Dilley from second to even the score, 1-1.

The Demon Deacons took the lead back in the sixth when Austin Hawke hit a two-run home run out to left-center. After six innings, Wake Forest was grasping a 3-1 lead.

The seventh inning saw Wake Forest pile on three more runs to extend its lead to 6-1. After Matt Conte homered to right to score a pair, Cam Nelson scored from third on a passed ball. The Demon Deacons were up 6-1 after seven innings.

UNCG mounted a rally in the ninth. After Luke Holland and Brantley Truitt drew walks to force a Wake Forest pitching change, Tyler Steele doubled down the line in right to score Holland before Truitt scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Jeremy Wolf. However, Griffin Green got the Demon Deacons out of the final inning and Wake Forest walked away with a 6-3 victory to split the season series with UNCG at a game apiece.
