Radford Athletics Announces 2025 Hall of Fame Induction Class
RADFORD, Va. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball Head Coach Mike Jones will be inducted into the Radford Athletics Hall of Fame on October 10, 2025, in Radford, Virginia.
Along with Jones, The Radford Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will also include, Javonte Green (men's basketball), Yvette "Pebbles" Smith (women's basketball), Rachel Wiechecki (volleyball) and Vincent Wyatt (men's track and field).
"I am humbled by this tremendous recognition and would like to thank Radford Director of Athletics Robert Lineburg and the selection committee for this honor," said Jones. "I am grateful for Robert's confidence in me to give me a chance, and most of all, his patience with me because of his belief in me. I also want to acknowledge the many contributions of coaches, players, managers and support personnel that made our success possible and our experience memorable and fun. This is a collective honor that I'm ecstatic to share with a lot of people, but the people I'm most appreciative of is my family for supporting me and the pursuit of my dream."
During his time as Radford men's basketball head coach from 2011-21, Jones was one of the winningest men's basketball coaches in program history. He guided two Big South Players of the Year, a Freshman of the Year and 18 all-conference selections. In addition, Jones led Radford a Big South Tournament Title, NCAA Tournament appearance, the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament win, the first-ever NIT appearance and two regular season championships. He led the Highlanders to defeat several power conference foes in Northwestern, Texas, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Oregon State, Virginia Tech and Penn State. His 174 overall wins and 99 Big South wins both rank second-most in Radford program history, while he became the first-ever men's basketball coach to record five 20-win seasons.
Coach Jones is in his fourth year at the helm of the Spartans, accumulating a record of 78-50 during his time with the Blue & Gold. This season he led the Spartans to a 20-12 overall record and a 13-5 Southern Conference (SoCon) mark.
This was his eighth year with 20 or more wins as a head coach, with five of them being at Radford. UNCG was voted to finish sixth in the 2024-25 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll. They claimed the second seed heading into the 2025 SoCon Tournament.
The five-member class will be the 22nd to be inducted into the Radford Athletics Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be held inside Kyle Hall on Oct. 10 in Radford, Virginia. For more information on the Radford Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, click here.
