GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team returns to Fleming Gymnasium to host Division III opponent William Peace on Tuesday night with a 7:00 p.m. start time.
 
The Spartans are 5-5 overall with a 3-0 record at home this season. The Pacers are 2-8 overall. UNCG is 2-0 against William Peace with the last win coming on Dec. 1, 2023, 88-56.
 

 
 
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS

• UNCG fell to ASUN opponent North Florida on Saturday, 89-77, in Jacksonville, Florida.
• Donovan Atwell paced the game with a career-high 27 points with 17 of them came in the second half.
• Malik Henry had 12 points and Kenyon Giles recorded 10 points to round out the Spartans who registered double figures.
• This was Miles Jones' third game this season with 10 rebounds.
• There were six lead changes and two tied scores during the game.
• NF had the edge over UNCG in field goal percentage, 47.8-45.5, and three-point percentage, 38.7-37.5.
• The Spartans had the advantage in free throw percentage, 80.0-73.3.

• Three Spartans are averaging double figures, including Giles (16.3), Atwell (13.2) and Ronald Polite III (12.0).
• Jalen Breath and Jones are pacing the team with 7.6 and 5.9 rebounds per game, respectively.
• The Spartans are nationally ranked 45^th in field goal percentage defense (39.4), 56^th in three-point percentage defense (29.8), 64^th in scoring defense (66.1) and 69^th in rebounds per game (39.30).
• The Spartans are leading the conference in field goal percentage defense and least number of turnovers per game (11.0).
• UNCG is second in the SoCon in scoring defense and three-point percentage defense.
• Giles is nationally ranked 80^th in total three-point field goals made (29) and 85^th in three-point percentage (41.4).
• Atwell is 58^th nationally with 78 three-point attempts.
• Breath is leading the SoCon in double doubles (3) and second in rebounds (76), defensive rebounds per game (5.40) and rebounds per game (7.6).
• UNCG has the advantage against its foes in points per game, 70.7-66.1, three-pointers per game, 8.9-6.4, rebounds per game, 39.3-35.5, and assists per game, 11.0-10.5.
• Giles joins the Spartans after two years at Radford, where he was first on the team with 1.4 steals per game and second on the team with 14.3 points per game.
• Polite III and Henry both come to UNCG with four years previously at George Mason. Polite III has averaged 7.38 points per game and 2.5 assists per game. Henry contributed a 62.5-percentage in field goals during his time with the Patriots.
• Demetrius Davis joins the Spartans after playing the last two seasons at Chattanooga and one year each at Lawson State Community College and Augusta.
• UNCG concluded last season 21-11 overall and 12-6 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
• This was the seventh year out of eight with 20 or more wins for the Spartans.
• This was the second out of three years under Head Coach Mike Jones that the Spartans won 20 or more games.
• The Spartans were voted to finish sixth in the 2024-25 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
• Atwell was voted to the 2024-25 Preseason All-SoCon team.
• The Spartans return nine from last year's roster, while adding seven newcomers.

• UNCG begins its SoCon slate with a game on New Year's Day, traveling to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to face off against Wofford and the Spartans conclude regular season conference play on March 1 against Samford in Greensboro.
• UNCG travels to Wofford on Jan. 1 and Chattanooga on Jan. 9 and will play on the CBS Sports Network.
• The Spartans' game at ETSU on Feb. 19 will be on ESPNU, while the team will host Samford on March 1 on ESPN2 or ESPNU.

• William Peace concluded the 2023-24 season with a 14-13 overall record and 8-6 in USA South.
• The Pacers were voted to finish sixth in the 2024-25 USA South Preseason Coaches' Poll.
• The Pacers earned victories over Johnson & Wales University (N.C.), 85-74, and most recently Regent University, 95-76.  
• Michael Dulin is pacing the team with 13.4 points per game.
• Shawn Jones is leading the team with 5.4 rebounds per game and 1.0 blocks per game.
• Opponents are outmatching William Peace in points per game, 77.1-64.5, rebounds per game, 39.0-34.6, and steals per game, 9.0-4.1.
• The Pacers have the advantage in three-pointers per game, 8.4-6.1, and blocks per game, 2.6-1.9.
• Nationally, William Peace is 44^th in three-point attempts per game (28.5).
• Elijah Green is 51^st nationally with an 88.9 free throw percentage.
