Men’s Basketball Stays Undefeated at Home with 86-37 Victory Over William Peace

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team secured an 86-37 victory over NCAA Division III foe William Peace on Tuesday night in Fleming Gymnasium. This was an exhibition game for the Pacers.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team secured an 86-37 victory over NCAA Division III foe William Peace on Tuesday night in Fleming Gymnasium. This was an exhibition game for the Pacers.
 
Four Spartans scored double figures, including Donovan Atwell who led the game with 14 points. Kenyon Giles was second with 13 points, while Demetrius Davis had 12 points and Akrum Ahemed had 11 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans started the game with a 9-0 run and reached a double-digit lead with 12:42 left on the clock, 12-2. William Peace's Ryan Lominack drained the Pacers' first three-pointer of the game at 11:44 but Ahemed hit back-to-back threes for a 15-point advantage, 19-4. UNCG expanded its lead to 20 with 2:21 left in the first half thanks to a three-pointer from Giles. The two teams traded baskets in the remaining time as UNCG went into the break with a 20-point lead, 36-16.
 
The Pacers opened the second half with a 7-3 run. The Spartans then answered with a 14-0 run over 6:14 to extend UNCG's lead to 30, 53-23. UNCG continued its offensive attack and eventually saw its largest lead of the season a 53-point gap, 84-31, with 2:20 left in the game. William Peace closed the game with a 6-2 run, but the Spartans walked away with the 86-37 victory to extend their home win streak to four.

  • Eleven Spartans marked the scoring column in the game.
  • This was Giles' 11th game this season scoring double figures.
  • Giles, Joryam Saizonou and Mason So each had four assists.
  • Giles added a season-best four steals.
  • Davis' 12 points is a season-best.
  • UNCG's 13 three-pointers are the most this season.
  • The Spartans surpassed the Pacers in field goal percentage, 55.2-32.6, three-point percentage, 46.4-13.6, and free throw percentage, 81.8-80.0.
  • UNCG also had the advantage in points in the paint, 36-14, points off turnovers, 24-10, bench points, 43-15, and fastbreak points, 16-0.
