ETSU Gets Past Men’s Basketball, 65-49
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team fell to ETSU on Wednesday night at Freedom Hall, 65-49, in The Southern Conference (SoCon) play.
Two Spartans reached double figures in the game, as Kenyon Giles tallied a team-best 13 points and Donovan Atwell had 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Demetrius Davis drained a three-pointer to start the game and ETSU's Quimari Peterson responded with his own long range field goal, 3-3. That started an 8-0 run for the Bucs to go up five, 8-3, with 17:23 on the clock. UNCG went on an 11-3 run that put the Spartans up three, 14-11. ETSU tied the game at 16-16 on a free throw with 9:14 left in the half and ran with the lead until Giles made a jumper at 4:41 for a one-point advantage, 25-24. ETSU scored eight points and UNCG made seven before heading to the locker room with the score tied at 32-32.
ETSU went on a 16-3 run to start the second half, climbing to a 13-point gap, 48-35, and never looked back. The Bucs maintained a double-digit lead throughout the remainder of the time and secured the win with a 16-point victory, 65-49.
