Men’s Golf Sits Atop the Leaderboard Through Round One of SoCon Championships
GREENSBORO, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team sits atop the leaderboard through the first round of play in The 2025 Southern Conference (SoCon) Championships on Sunday at Reynolds Plantation.

TEAM
- UNCG holds a three-stroke lead for first place in the tournament after recording an 11-under-par (277) in round one.
- ETSU comes in just behind the Spartans at second place with an eight-under-par (280) on Sunday.
- Chattanooga is in third place with a three-under-par (285), while Western Carolina rounds out the team under-par scores to stand in fourth place with a one-under-par (287).
- Furman and Mercer are tied for fifth place after both teams notched an even-par (288) in the opening round.
- Samford sits in seventh place with a one-over-par (289), while Wofford rounds out the leaderboard at eighth place with a nine-over-par (297).
- UNCG is leading all eight teams in par fours (3.94) and birdies (23), while being tied with three other teams with one eagle.
- The Spartans are second on the stats sheet in par threes (2.95) and par fives (4.55).
INDIVIDUAL
- Jake Lewis is leading the Spartans to stand in second place after carding a four-under-par (68) in the first round.
- Colin Dutton comes just behind Lewis to be in a tie for third place after shooting a three-under-par (69) on Sunday.
- Kelvin Hernandez, Jack Marcotte and B.J. Boyce are all tied for eighth place on the player leaderboard after all three Spartans notched a two-under-par (70) in the opening round.
- After making the turn to the back nine, Marcotte carded an eagle on hole 10. He was one of four players to record an eagle in round one.
- Dutton is leading all 40 players with a 2.50 par threes average.
- Boyce and Lewis are tied for third place in the field with six birdies apiece.
- Garrett Engle of Chattanooga is in first place with a six-under-par (66) in round one.
