Fennie led the Greensboro men's golf team from 2009-2017, and helped bring the program its second National Championship in 2011. He was also named the 2011 Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III Coach of the Year.

Under Fennie's direction, the men's golf team won the 2012 USA South Conference Championship, which was the team's first since 2002.

In 2013, the program won the GCAA Division III Academic National Championship. Fennie coached 11 NCAA All-Americans and nine All-American Scholars during his tenure as the Pride's men's golf coach.

The hall of fame ceremony was part of Homecoming weekend at Greensboro College.

"Obviously it is nice to be recognized by being inducted into Greensboro College Athletic Hall of Fame but what makes it special is reconnecting with the school in a positive way," said Fennie. "Hearing from former players, coworkers, friends and sharing the moment with family is another aspect to this honor that's important to me."

Fennie began his career at UNCG in the 2018-19 season. In the past six seasons, he has been a part of major milestones within the men's golf program. In his first season, the team claimed first place at The Southern Conference (SoCon) Championships. In addition, during his tenure the squad has earned bids to four NCAA Regionals, while making Division I program history by Kelvin Hernandez going to the NCAA Championships in the 2023-24 season.

The Spartans began the 2024-25 season by winning the Bryan National Collegiate at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, North Carolina. The team will head to Vero Beach, Florida, to compete in the Quail Valley Invitational from Oct. 13-14 at Quail Valley Golf Course, hosted by Michigan State.
