Men’s Soccer Travels to Furman in SoCon Clash

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 18 UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team will travel to Greenville, South Carolina, to take on The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Furman at Stone Stadium on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The Paladins enter this match on a four-game win streak.

SERIES HISTORY VS FURMAN  
This matchup dates back to 1990, with UNCG holding a 23-19-5 edge in the series. The last matchup was in the 2024 SoCon Tournament, where the No. 4 seed Furman knocked out No. 1 seed UNCG in penalty kicks (5-4) at UNCG Soccer Stadium. 

WHAT'S AT STAKE  

With a UNCG win, the Spartans will jump the Paladins in the standings to set up a potential winner takes all game against Mercer on Nov. 1 for the SoCon Conference title. 
  
ABOUT THE SPARTANS       

  • The Spartans were voted first in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning four out of the six first-place votes and totaling 24 points.      

  • UNCG ranks 18th in RPI with a 3-0-4 record against Quad 1 and Quad 2 teams this year.    

  • UNCG enters this matchup with a 1-1 record against South Carolina schools this season.  

  • The Blue & Gold currently sits third in the standings behind Mercer and Furman, who both hold a one-point advantage over the Spartans in first place.    

  • Enzo Dovlo was named to the Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List, on October. 10 with nine goals and six assists this season.    

  • Dovlo is nationally ranked eighth in points (24), 12th in total goals (9) and 26th in assists (6).    

  • Dovlo also ranks first in the SoCon in total goals and total points.   

  • Arnaud Tattevin is second on the team in goals with six, while also having two assists on the season.      

  • Steven Hernandez is third on the team in total points with 10 (4G,2A).    

  • The trio of Dovlo, Tattevin and Hernandez have scored 19 out of the 33 goals this season.    

  • Julien Le Bourdoulous is the main playmaker on the team, he currently has two goals and four assists in the season.     

  • Longo is third on the team in assists this year with three.    

  • In the past five games, goalkeeper Seth Wilson has three clean sheets with 21 saves.   

  • The Spartans boast 13 players that have scored points for the team this season.      

  • The Spartans boast one of the best offenses in the nation and are ranked eighth in total goals (33), 19th in total points (92), 19th in scoring offense (2.32), 30th in points per game (6.13) and 43rd  in total assists (26). 

  • The Spartans concluded the 2024 season 10-2-5 overall and 3-1-1 in SoCon and a shared Regular Season Title with ETSU.     

  • The squad boasts 11 returners from last season and nine seniors.       

SCOUTING FURMAN   

  • Furman ranks 28th in RPI and eighth in TopDrawer Soccer rankings.  

  • The Paladins are 2-0-4 in Quad 1 and Quad 2 games this year, defeating then-ranked #8 Gardner-Webb on Sept. 12th 4-1 at Stone Stadium.  

  • The 'Dins are led by Diego Hernandez, who is one of the best midfield talents in the game; he leads the team in both goals (7) and assists (8).  

  • Wilfer Bustamante is Furman's second leading scorer this season with 18 points (6G,6A).   

  •  Ivan Horvat leads the team behind the net with 42 saves this year and three shutouts.

  • The Paladins are currently 6-1-1 at home this year with their only loss at home coming from College of Charleston on Sept. 16.    

  • Furman nationally ranks eighth in points per game (7.87), ninth in goal differential (22), 10th in scoring offense (2.40) and 10th in assists per game (2.67).

UP NEXT      
UNCG will welcome SoCon opponent Mercer on Nov. 1 for its final regular season match of the season. The Spartans will honor 10 seniors before the start of the match with the first 100 UNCG students receiving a free UNCG bucket hat. It will also be camper reunion night with a food truck in attendance. Kick off at UNCG Soccer Stadium will begin at 6:00 p.m.
