Men’s Soccer on the Road to Florida to Face USF & UCF

The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team will travel to the Sunshine State to begin its 2025 road slate by playing University of South Florida (USF) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in St. Petersburg, Florida, and then University of Central Florida (UCF) on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in Orlando, Florida.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team will travel to the Sunshine State to begin its 2025 road slate by playing University of South Florida (USF) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in St. Petersburg, Florida, and then University of Central Florida (UCF) on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in Orlando, Florida. 
  

  
SERIES HISTORY VS USF 
The Spartans hold a 2-1-1 all-time record against the Bulls. The last time these two teams matched up was in the third round of the NCAA Tournament in 2008, where South Florida advanced after a penalty shootout 1-1 (3-1 pk). 
 
SERIES HISTORY VS UCF 

This is the third all-time meeting between UCF and UNCG with the series tied at 1-1-0. This is the first meeting between the teams since 1997 where UCF took a 2-0 win over UNCG. 
 
ABOUT THE SPARTANS 

  • The Spartans concluded the 2024 season 10-2-5 overall with 3-1-1 in The Southern Conference (SoCon) and a shared Regular Season Title. 

  • The squad boasts 11 returners from last season and nine seniors heading into this season. 

  • The Spartans began the 2025 season 2-0 with wins at home over Radford, 6-2, and VCU, 3-2.  

  • Enzo Dovlo was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for week one of the season with five goals and one assist through two games played. 

  • The Spartans were ranked 23rd in the nation by both the United Coaches Poll and TopDrawer Soccer Poll.  

  • UNCG also is sitting seventh in the United Soccer Coaches South Region Poll and is the only non-ACC school in the rankings.  

  • The Spartans were voted first in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning four out of the total six first-place votes and totaling 24 points. 

  • The Spartans secured seven out of the 13 total spots in the 2025 SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team. 

  • Senior forward Arnaud Tattevin was named to the 2025 SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team, after earning first-team honors in 2024 after scoring seven goals and two assists.  

  • Haurna was named SoCon Freshman of the Year last year. 

SCOUTING USF 

  • USF was slated to finish third out of nine teams in the 2025 American Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

  • Midfielder Pedro Faife and defender Tyler Richardson was named to American Men's Soccer Preseason All-Conference Team. 

  • Last season, the Bulls closed out the 2024 season with a 6-6-4 overall record and 4-3 in conference action. 

  • The Bulls started the season 1-1-0 with a 0-0 draw at Saint Louis and a 4-1 win over Lipscomb.  

  • The leading scorer for USF is Nicolas Pietrantonio who has two goals so far this season. 

  • Head Coach Bob Butehorn enters his ninth season at the helm of the program. He has taken the Bulls to two NCAA appearances in 2019 and 2022. The team is 35-24-7 in home games under his watch. 

  • The Bulls will remain at home for the next two games after UNCG, playing host to FGCU on Aug.31, at 7:00 pm. Then they take on rival UCF at home on Sept.4.  

SCOUTING UCF 

  • The UCF Knights concluded the 2024 season 7-6-7 overall and 5-4-0 in the Sun Belt. 

  • UCF was picked to finish third in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches' Poll in 2025. 

  • Head Coach Scott Calabrese enters his eighth season for UCF with an overall record of 162-108-33. He has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances with four conference tournament titles to his name. 

  • UCF has gotten out of the gate slow, dropping both away matches against North Carolina and No. 6 Wake Forest to start the season 0-2-0. 

  • The Knights are led in scoring by Lilian Ricol and Kenn Muendo each with one goal so far this season. 

  • UCF will open its home season slate on Thursday, Aug. 28 by playing host to UT Rio Grande at 7:00 p.m. at UCF Soccer Complex before getting ready for UNCG on Sunday, Aug. 31.

UP NEXT 
The UNCG men's soccer team will return home on Sept. 6 with a potential Top 25 matchup, in Dayton, who is currently ranked No. 25. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 pm at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
