Men’s Soccer First in SoCon Preseason Poll, Seven Named Preseason All-Conference
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team has been selected to finish first in The Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Poll following voting completed by the league's six head coaches.
UNCG received four out of the six first place votes on its way to the top spot of the SoCon Preseason Poll. Furman is positioned right behind UNCG in second, garnering the other two first place votes. Mercer controls the third spot which is followed by ETSU in fourth. Wofford was voted fifth in the rankings and VMI rounds out the preseason rankings.
The SoCon men's soccer head coaches also selected a 13-member All-Conference Preseason team. UNCG boasted the most selections in the SoCon this upcoming season with seven.
Senior Arnaud Tattevin and junior Enzo Dovlo each have been selected in the forward position. Tattevin scored seven goals with two assists last season for 16 points, while Dovlo tallied five goals with four assists for 14 points on the campaign last season.
Sophomore Issah Haruna and senior Magnus Kjoller earned midfield nods. Haruna notched three goals with three assists while playing in all 16 games last season. Transfer Kjoller started 16 games for Wofford in the 2024 season with two goals scored and three assists.
On defense, senior Sami Lachekar and sophomore Mohammed Sumaila hold down two of the four spots given out. Lachekar played 12 games and started eight with one goal scored. Sumaila played all 17 games last season with 831 minutes accrued and one assist.
Junior Seth Wilson was voted in as one of the two goalkeepers with 12 games started, 39 saves and a 6-1-5 record as a starter.
