Men’s Tennis Sweeps USC Sumter at Home, 7-0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team cruised past the USC Sumter Fire Ants, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team cruised past the USC Sumter Fire Ants, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

William Elmers and John Gabelic got things started for the Spartans by stretching their doubles winning streak to three, earning a convincing 6-2 victory on court three. Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz then picked up a 6-4 win on court two to clinch the doubles point for UNCG. Tymofiy Khrystyuk and Luke Thomson also upped their record for doubles with a 7-6 (3) win. Competing in exhibition play, freshmen Alan Trbonja and Eric Linemann earned an unofficial 6-4 victory on court four.

The Spartans then kept applying pressure in singles, starting with Elmers earning a 6-1, 6-1 win over Aaron Gutierrez. Moskowitz then routed USC Sumter's Jakub Sevcik, 6-2, 6-0. Thomson made it 3-0 Spartans when he earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Stanley Long. Khrystyuk then won 7-5, 6-1 while facing Gian Rojas Rodriguez. UNCG completed the 7-0 sweep with two more wins from Black, 6-3, 6-3, and Gabelic, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. Competing in a pair of exhibition singles matches on courts 10 and 11, UNCG's Lindemann and Trbonja also earned unofficial wins convincingly 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-2, respectively.
