Men’s Tennis Falls to Chattanooga in Regular Season Finale

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell 6-1 in its regular season finale to the Chattanooga Mocs in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell 6-1 in its regular season finale to the Chattanooga Mocs in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

Chattanooga put the first point on the scoreboard after winning two of three doubles matches. Carson Gompert and Cortland Grove secured a 6-2 win over Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz at court three before Gabriel Castillo and Jakub Jupa defeated John Gablelic and Tymofiy Khrystyuk, 6-2. However, William Elmers and Luke Thomson were able to notch a 7-6 win over Jaxon Lamb and Ryan Mudre before going into singles action.

The Mocs continued their momentum into singles play by securing five of six matches for the 6-1 win. Castillo defeated Gabelic, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 singles to make it 2-0 Chattanooga. Grove bested Black, 6-2, 6-1, on court four just before Mudre clinched the match for the Mocs in a 6-1, 6-4, win over Thomson on court three. Jupa gave Chattanooga a 5-0 advantage when he defeated Khrystyuk, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. The Mocs secured their final point of the day when Kincses notched a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win over Elmers on court six. Moskowitz was able to get UNCG on the board in a 7-6 (2), 6-3 win over Matej Laibl, but Chattanooga walked away with the 6-1 win.
