Women’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to High Point
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team dropped a slim 1-0 loss to Triad foe High Point on Thursday night at Vert Stadium in non-conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UNCG started off the first half strong recording seven of its shots in the first 26 minutes. In the 37th minute, the Panthers settled in and earned their first corner kick, which saw Megan Garmey take a shot that Emma Malone tipped over the crossbar. However, Meg Roden wrapped the ensuing corner kick around the near post to give High Point a 1-0 advantage at 37:20.
The Panthers continued pressing the Spartans in their attacking third, ultimately outshooting UNCG 6-4 in the second half. Neither team was able to capitalize on an opportunity but Malone registered four of her five saves in the second half, while High Point's Aubrey McKessy stopped one one shot.
