Chattanooga Gets Past Men’s Basketball, 75-63
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team was handed a 75-63 loss facing the Chattanooga (UTC) Mocs in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Thursday evening at the First Horizon Coliseum.
In the second half with 18:14 on the clock, Ronald Polite III scored his 1,000 career point.
The Spartans will await their fate in the 2025 SoCon Tournament following the conclusion of all games around the league on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans got on the board first with Jalen Breath sinking a layup 42 seconds in. Both sides traded points early, going back-and-forth until Joryam Saizonou buried the game's first three-pointer to make it 11-6 Spartans with 5:40 elapsed. The Mocs answered with six consecutive points thanks to a pair of three-pointers to claim their second lead of the night, 12-11. The Spartans and Mocs continued to trade points during the first half up until the break, when Chattanooga carried a 34-31 advantage.
Coming out of halftime, UTC tacked on two more points with a pair of successful free throws made by Frank Champion. The Spartans answered with five consecutive points to tie the score before taking the lead back, 40-38. After Kenyon Giles nailed a three-pointer to cut it to 53-51 in favor of Chattanooga, the Mocs went on a 17-5 run to extend to their largest lead of the night, 70-56, with 5:25 left to play. The Mocs hung on the remaining five minutes of the second half and won, 75-63, to secure the top-seed for the 2025 SoCon Men's Basketball Tournament.

- The Spartans were led by Ronald Polite III and Demetrius Davis, who had 17 and 14 points, respectively.
- Breath led UNCG with nine rebounds, including seven on the defensive end.
- Giles was one of four Spartans to drain a three, he led with a pair of them.
- UNCG led in points off turnovers, 12-4, and offensive rebounds, 9-7.

UNCG will play one more game to close out the regular season against the Samford Bulldogs on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. inside Fleming Gymnasium.
