Women’s Basketball Welcomes UNC Asheville for Tuesday Matinee
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team will welcome in the UNC Asheville Bulldogs in a non-conference matinee on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Fleming Gym.
Tuesday's game will be Education Day, where Fleming Gym will welcome in Guilford County Schools for the contest.
SERIES HISTORY
The Spartans lead in the overall series against the Bulldogs at 16-4. The Bulldogs claimed a close battle over the Spartans last season, 72-71, in Asheville. Three Spartans reached double figures in last season's meeting with Jayde Gamble leading the squad with 18 points.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
- UNCG most recently claimed a 68-55 win over Appalachian State on Saturday in Fleming Gym.
- Freshman Nya Smith led the game with a career-high 21 points, going 8-for-13 in field goals and 4-for-6 from behind the arc.
- With 16 points from Gamble and 11 from Jaila Lee, three Spartans finished in double figures.
- Gamble paced the game with five steals and added a career-high seven assists.
- Khalis Cain led the game with a season-high of 10 rebounds.
- UNCG bested App State in points off turnovers (23-7), fast-break points (9-4) and bench points (23-13).

- UNCG comes into Tuesday's contest with a 3-1 overall record on the non-conference slate.
- The Spartans are leading The Southern Conference (SoCon) in three-point percentage (39.0), turnovers forced per game (17.00) and tied with five teams in winning percentage (.500)
- Gamble stands atop the conference with 29 field goal attempts this season. The senior is second in the league in steals (5), three-point attempts (15) and three-pointers per game (3.00).

- Head Coach Trina Patterson is in her ninth season at the helm of the Blue & Gold.

- The Bulldogs come to Greensboro with an 0-3 mark on the 2024-25 campaign.
- UNC Asheville is still looking for a win this season as the team started off with a 75-52 loss at SoCon foe Mercer, then dropped an 82-65 contest at Virginia Tech and most recently opened its home opener on Friday, falling to Charlotte, 59-47.
- UNC Asheville leads the Big South in bench points per game (33.5) and three-point percentage defense (20.0).
- Lalamni Simmons is tied with two other players in the league, being 100 percent at the charity stripe.
- Simmons leads the squad with 26 points, averaging 8.7 points per game.
