Four From Women’s Golf Named to All-Conference Teams

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team had four student-athletes named to All-Southern Conference (SoCon) teams, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team had four student-athletes named to All-Southern Conference (SoCon) teams, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Senior Ava Romfo and sophomore Kasey McIlvaine were listed on the All-SoCon Team while freshmen Sophie Lauture and Lulu Leetham landed on the SoCon All-Freshman Team.

UNCG's fourth-place finish at the SoCon Championship last week was the best showing in a conference tournament since the 2013 SoCon Championship, when UNCG finished third with a final score of 903. It also marked the Spartans eighth time placing fifth or better in its 11 total events during the 2024-25 campaign.

The Spartans won their first tournament since the 2011-12 season after placing first in the Puerto Rico Shootout in Humacao, Puerto Rico, from March 4-6. UNCG also earned a runner-up finish hosting the UNCG Collegiate from Oct. 21-22, 2024.

UNCG tied with Furman and Mercer for most student-athletes named to All-Conference Teams at four. Additionally, Chattanooga, Samford and Western Carolina each had one golfer named to the All-SoCon Team.

  • Ranks ninth in the SoCon with a 74.74 stroke average per round.
  • Finished 26th at SoCon Championship with a 24-over-par (240).
  • Won second career individual title at UNCG Collegiate from Oct. 21-22.
  • Low round score was a 68 twice in the UNCG Collegiate.
  • Competed in 27 total rounds and took 2,018 strokes.

Kasey McIlvaine
All-SoCon Team

Sophomore | Raleigh, N.C.

  • Ranks eighth in the SoCon with a 74.33 stroke average per round.
  • Finished tied for seventh at SoCon Championship with a nine-over-par (219).
  • Best finish was placing third at the UNCG Collegiate from Oct. 21-22.
  • Low round score was a 68 in the second round of the UNCG Collegiate.
  • Competed in 30 total rounds and fired off 2,230 strokes.

Sophie Lauture
SoCon All-Freshman Team
Freshman | Concord, N.C.

  • Ranks tied for 24th in the SoCon with a 76.29 stroke average per round.
  • Finished 41st at SoCon Championship with a 12-over-par (156) in the final two rounds.
  • Best finish was fourth in the Pirate Collegiate Classic from Sept. 30-Oct. 1
  • Low round score was a 65 in the second round of the Golf Week Fall Challenge on Sept. 9.
  • Competed in 24 rounds and totaled 1,831 strokes.

Lulu Leetham
SoCon All-Freshman Team
Freshman | Brackley, England

  • Ranks 18th in the SoCon with a 75.91 stroke average per round.
  • Finished tied for 15th at SoCon Championship with a 16-over-par (232).
  • Best finish was tying for second in the Puerto Rico Shootout from March 4-6.
  • Low round score was a 69 in the first round of the Puerto Rico Shootout.
  • Competed in 22 rounds and totaled 1,670 strokes.
