Romfo Leads Women’s Golf After Round One of Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team stands at 16th following the first round on Friday at Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, hosted by North Carolina at Finley Golf Club.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team stands at 16th following the first round on Friday at Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, hosted by North Carolina at Finley Golf Club.

TEAM

  • The Spartans carded a 30-over-par (310) in the opening round on Friday.
  • UNCG finished the first round with a 3.16 stroke average on par threes, which ranks third in the tournament.
  • The Spartans totaled 49 pars and five birdies as a team in the first round.
  • Kentucky leads the tournament at four-over-par (284).

 
INDIVIDUAL

  • Senior Ava Romfo led the Spartans and is tied for 34th overall after carding a four-over-par (74) in the first round. She led the Spartans with two birdies.
  • Sophomore Kasey McIlvaine finished the first round second on the Spartans and tied for 53rd at six-over-par (76).
  • Junior Julia Baeumken is third on the team and tied for 65th after shooting an eight-over-par (78) in round one.
  • Freshman Sophie Lauture and Sophomore Elle Burnette are tied for 85th after finishing Friday 12-over-par (82).
  • Wake Forest's Carolina Lopez-Chacarra leads the tournament at three-under-par (67).

UP NEXT
The Spartans will play round two of Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Saturday when play resumes at 8:30 a.m. at Finley Golf Club.
