Women’s Golf in Second After First Round of 2025 SoCon Championship
WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team is in second following the first round on Monday at The 2025 Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship at Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, South Carolina.
The Spartans stand at second out of the nine teams from the conference at 15-over-par (303) following the first round. Freshman Lulu Leetham is leading UNCG and tied for second in the field at one-over-par after shooting a 73 in the first round on Monday.
TEAM
- The Spartans find themselves at second in the tournament after shooting 15-over-par (303) as a team in Monday's first round.
- UNCG is three strokes ahead of Chattanooga (306) and eight shy of the leader, Furman (295).
- The Spartans are second in the tournament when competing on par threes and fives. UNCG is 11-over-par with a 3.44 stroke average on par threes while being two-under-par on par fives so far with a 4.92 stroke average.
- UNCG leads the tournament after day one with 14 birdies.
- Additionally, the Spartans stand at sixth with 41 pars in the early going.
INDIVIDUAL
- Leetham is leading the Spartans and tied for second after day one and round one with a score of one-over-par (73). She is tied for fourth on par-three holes at one-under-par with a 3.2 stroke average. Leetham is also in third on par fives with a three-under-par score and 4.4 stroke average. She is tied for second with five birdies.
- Sophomore Kasey McIlvaine is second on the team and tied for fifth overall at two-over-par (74). She is second so far in the tournament when competing on par five holes, averaging 4.2 strokes per par-five hole with a score of four-under-par. She is tied for fourth with four birdies.
- Senior Ava Romfo and junior Julia Baeumken are tied for third on the squad and 19th on the player leaderboard after both finished the first round at six-over-par (78).
- Sophomore Elle Burnette is fifth for the Spartans and tied for 35th in the tournament at 14-over-par (86).
- Furman's Audrey Ryu possesses a seven-stroke lead for first on the player leaderboard. She is six-under-par (66) after day one.
