Women’s Soccer & Chattanooga Face Off in Friday Night SoCon Battle
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team is set to host The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Chattanooga on Friday at UNCG Soccer Stadium. Prior to the match, the Spartans will recognize their six seniors with kick off set for 6:00 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY VS CHATTANOOGA
The Spartans are leading the series 24-4-4 overall, claiming the last three victories, including the most recent, where UNCG won 1-0 on Sept. 29, 2024, in Tennessee.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
ETSU claimed a 1-0 victory over UNCG on Sunday behind a goal in the 75th minute. In net, Emma Malone recorded three saves, while the Bucs outshot UNCG, 14-5.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
- Malone returns as the leading goalkeeper after notching 61 saves with a 1.14 GAA in 2024.
- Taylor Mentzer is the returning leading scorer for the Spartans after the senior recorded five goals last season.
- Merle Greulich follows closely behind as the returning leading scorer with four goals last season and was recognized as the 2024 SoCon Freshman of the Year.
- Ava Kiss returns after leading the team with three assists last season and posting three goals as well.
- So far this season, Rina Ogimoto paces the team with eight points (3G, 2A) this season.
- Mentzer is second on the team with two goals and four points.
- Kiss and Ryen Ortiz both have three points this season (1G, 1A).
- The Spartans concluded the 2024 season 5-9-5 overall and 3-3-3 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
- The Spartans were voted to finish sixth in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning 45 points.
- Redshirt senior midfielder Rachel Poplin was named to the 2025 SoCon Preason All-Conference Team.
- Poplin has started and played in all 19 games the past two seasons for the Blue & Gold with a career total of 3,238 minutes. She notched two goals for four points during the 2024 campaign.
SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA
- Chattanooga was voted to finish fifth in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Brenna Swiger was voted to the 2025 Preseason All-Conference Team.
- The Mocs are currently 6-0 at home at Finley Stadium and have five clean sheets out of their seven victories.
- Chattanooga is coming off a 2-0 loss to Samford, but previously defeated Wofford, 4-0, to start SoCon play.
- As a team, the Mocs are outscoring opponents 23-10.
- Caroline Richvalsky paces the team with 14 points (5G, 4A), while Paige Thomas isn't far behind her with 13 points (6G, 1A).
- Caroline Ekern has started and played in every minute for the Mocs in net, giving up just 10 goals for a 1.00 goals against average with 27 saves.
- She is 16th nationally with five shutouts and second in the conference.
- Nationally, the Mocs are 29th in total goals (23), 32nd in total points (66), 43rd in total assists (20) and 50th in goal differential (11).
