Women’s Soccer Drops Contest at No. 22 North Carolina, 4-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 contest with No. 22 North Carolina on Thursday evening at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 contest with No. 22 North Carolina on Thursday evening at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tar Heels took a 1-0 advantage at 18:11 when Bella Devey dribbled into the box and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner unassisted. Shortly after the first goal of the game, the Spartans had their best look of the first half when Taylor Mentzer took a shot at the top of 18-yard box that was blocked at 18:25. Kate Faassee was able to put North Carolina up 2-0 with another goal at 34:54 before heading to the break.
 
North Carolina continued its momentum coming out of the locker room. Linda Ullmark made it 3-0 Tar Heels after recording a goal at 51:41. Shortly after, Faassee recorded her second goal and final of the game to give the Tar Heels the 4-0 advantage at 53:11. UNCG added some late second half pressure with four total shots, including three in the final 11 minutes. However, the Tar Heels were able to walk away comfortably with the 4-0 victory.

  • Emma Malone matched her career-best of eight saves to North Carolina's lone save.
  • The Spartans recorded five shots in the game.
  • Rina Ogimoto led UNCG with two shots.
