Women’s Tennis to Host UNC Asheville & Hampton

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will host UNC Asheville on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and Hampton on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS

  • UNCG comes into Wednesday's contest with an 0-5 overall mark on the 2025 slate.
  • UNCG recently dropped a 5-2 contest with Gardner-Webb on Wednesday at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
  • Alexandra Dodashev and Luna Urso secured both of their singles matches in the contest to give UNCG its two points.
  • Dodashev is leading the team with a 2-3 overall record in singles this season.
  • Sydney Bly leads the doubles stats page with a 2-3 overall record.
  • Four doubles duos have recorded one win each on the 2025 campaign.
  • UNCG concluded the 2024 season with a 3-19 overall record and 1-6 mark in The Southern Conference (SoCon).

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

  • UNC Asheville heads to Greensboro with a 4-1 overall mark on the 2025 season.
  • All four of the Bulldogs' wins this season have been shutouts with wins coming over SoCon foe Chattanooga, Tusculum, Lenoir-Rhyne and most recently Emmanuel.
  • The team's only loss this season came to SoCon foe Furman, 5-2, in Asheville.
  • The Bulldogs competed in four total fall invitationals in 2024 to prepare for the spring season.
  • Julia Caffarena and Joy Angelina Hug are pacing the squad with four singles wins apiece.
  • Ari Siegel & Hug and Avery Sager & Louise Booker are the best doubles duos on the team with each holding a 4-2 overall record.
  • Hug was named Big South Player of the Week on Jan. 21 after the team's 7-0 win over Chattanooga on Jan. 19.
  • UNC Asheville was picked to finish second in the Big South Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • The Bulldogs concluded the 2023-24 season with a 16-4 overall record and 5-0 conference mark.
  • The team defeated Charleston, 4-3, to claim the Big South Championship last season to make an appearance in the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Tournament.
  • UNC Asheville concluded 2024 by falling, 4-0, to No. 20 Florida State.

SCOUTING THE PIRATES

  • Hampton's matchup with UNCG on Sunday will be the Pirates' 2025 season opener.

  • After the completion of the fall season, doubles team Serena Bryan and Diana Starodubtseva broke in the top 100 of ITA fall national rankings.
