Women’s Tennis Falls to UNC Asheville, 6-1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team fell in a 6-1 matchup with the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville on Saturday at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team fell in a 6-1 matchup with the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville on Saturday at the UNCG Tennis Courts.

"Great win for Olivia," said Head Coach Mat Iandolo. "She has been competing very well at No. 1 and giving us a chance every time out at that challenging position."

The Bulldogs got on the board first by gaining the doubles point. Elizabeth Tindera and Valeria Centeno secured the first contest of the day in a 6-2 win over Lauren Thomson and Luna Urso on court three. Angelina Joy Hug and Ari Siegel won the doubles point for the team after defeating Alexandra Dodashev and Olivia Gallagher, 6-2 on court one. Sydney Bly and Raegan Mitchell were on top, 5-2, in their unfinished match with Louise Booker and Avery Sager on court two before moving into singles action.
 
UNC Asheville continued its momentum into singles play by winning the first three singles matches to clinch the match, 4-0. Sager earned the first singles match in a 6-2, 6-2, win over Urso on court six. Tindera added the third point of the day for the Bulldogs in a 6-3, 6-3, win against Mitchell on court three. Julia Caffarena secured the match-clinching point for UNC Asheville on court five, 6-4, 6-1. Gallagher put the Spartans on the board after taking down Alexis Nyborg, 6-3, 6-3, on court one. However, UNC Asheville would go on to claim the next two singles contests for the 6-1 win. Hug defeated Dodashev, 6-3, 6-3, on court two just before Booker secured the 6-4, 6-3, battle over Thomson on court four.
