Women’s Tennis Travels to Elon Tournament
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will travel over to Elon, North Carolina, on Friday and Saturday for the Elon Tournament at Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Tournament Information:
- Over the two days, the teams will compete in three rounds of singles and three rounds of doubles
- Both days will be a 9:00 a.m. start
Teams Competing:
UNCG, Elon, Richmond, Virginia Tech and Liberty
Spartans Last Season:
- UNCG concluded the 2025 regular season 3-18 overall and 0-7 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
- Lauren Thomson finished on top for the Spartans in singles for the second consecutive year after tallying eight wins on the 2025 campaign.
- Sydney Bly led the team last season with nine total doubles wins.
Last Time Out for the Spartans
- UNCG most recently began the 2025 fall slate hosting the UNCG Tournament from Sept. 13-14.
- The Spartans welcomed in NC Central, Davidson, Campbell, UNCW and NC A&T across the two-day event.
- Sophia Cedeno led the Spartans by capturing two singles wins on the weekend.
- Doubles duo Sara Kostic and Kayley Bushnell paced the squad with two doubles victories over the two days.
Scouting the Opponents
- Elon – Elon claimed its first ever CAA Championship in the spring, winning the CAA Tournament with a victory over William & Mary in the final. The Phoenix earned the CAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and faced No. 10 Tennessee in the opening round. Elon finished the season with a 19-6 overall record, which included a 15-2 mark at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Simone Bergeron returns for her junior season after a breakout campaign in the spring that saw her take home CAA Women's Tennis Player of the Year.
- Richmond – The Spiders most recently opened the fall slate at the ITA Hall of Fame Classic from Sept. 13-14 in Williamsburg, Virginia. The team concluded the 2025 spring season 16-7 overall and 6-2 in the Atlantic 10 (A-10). Richmond made it to the A-10 Championship last season, but fell to VCU, 4-1.
- Virginia Tech – The Hokies went 13-12 overall and 2-10 in the ACC last season. Virginia Tech's 2025 season was concluded with a 4-2 loss to Miami in the second round of the ACC Championships. Laima Frosch returns as the leader in singles wins last season with 19.
- Liberty – The Flames wrapped up the 2025 spring campaign 12-13 overall and 5-2 in the Conference USA (CUSA). Liberty's season was concluded with a 4-0 loss to FIU in the CUSA Women's Tennis Championship.
