Dodashev Continues Tennis Career in England this Fall
GREENSBORO, N.C. – After three excellent seasons with the Spartans, former UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis player Alexandra Dodashev has accepted an offer to continue her college tennis career and education in England this fall.
This September, Dodashev will embark on an exciting year in the UK, where she will play another season of college tennis and pursue her master's degree as a postgraduate student-athlete.
After weighing out several UK university offers, Dodashev committed to an institution with a strong sporting culture and a proven commitment to athlete development. Alongside her master's degree in International Relations, she'll compete as part of a top-level college tennis program, challenging herself in a new environment and taking her game to the next level.
Over recent years, the UK has become a popular destination for former student-athletes as different eligibility rules permit students to compete alongside their graduate education.
While the chance to play another year of college sport initially caught her attention, several other factors also influenced Dodashev's decision to make the move to England.
Master's degrees in the UK take just 12 months to complete, tuition is typically cheaper, and former US college athletes can often use their playing experience to earn athletic scholarships.
Dodashev was supported throughout the entire process by UK-based company Play Overseas, who provide a free service to graduating and former student-athletes, helping them to identify opportunities to further both their sporting career and education overseas.
Play Overseas is currently recruiting student-athletes for the Fall 2025 intake and beyond. Any student that wishes to explore the possibility of playing a further year of college sport in the UK while pursuing a master's degree can register their interest via the following link: www.playoverseas.co.uk/apply
