SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Allie Sweet of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Rayna Taylor Freshman of the Year, while also being voted to the All-SoCon First Team and All-Freshman Team.

Sweet has dominated her freshman season at UNCG. Among national rankings, Sweet is second in attacks per set (13.63), third in total attacks (1,418), 22nd in kills (442) and 26th in points (498.5). She is leading the SoCon across six statistical categories: attacks per set (13.63), kills per set (4.25), points (498.5), points per set (4.79), total attacks (1,418) and total kills (442).

She registered her fourth career double-double last week after leading the team's match at Samford with 23 kills and adding 16 digs.

Throughout the season, she has notched double digit kills in 22 out of 28 games. In her collegiate debut against Robert Morris on August 30, she posted her season and career-best of 27 kills.

The Woodstock, Georgia, native was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. First, on Sept. 2 in the first round of weekly awards for the 2024 campaign and most recently on Nov. 11.

According to our records, this is the first time in UNCG program history that a volleyball Freshman of the Year also earned a spot on both the All-SoCon First Team and All-Freshman Team.

In addition, this is the fourth time a Spartan has been named SoCon Freshman of the Year. The last time was in 2015 when Allison Penner earned the mention.
