UNCG’s Accreditation Reaffirmed

SACSCOC has formally announced that UNCG will remain an accredited institution. It is welcoming news to the 150 faculty and staff members who led the reaccreditation process this year. The post UNCG’s Accreditation Reaffirmed appeared first on UNC Greensboro.

On December 10, 2024, the Board of Trustees of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) reaffirmed UNC Greensboro’s institutional accreditation, which has been in place since 1921. Accreditation by SACSCOC signifies that the institution (1) has a mission appropriate to higher education, (2) has resources, programs, and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that mission, and (3) maintains clearly specified educational objectives that are consistent with its mission and appropriate to the degrees its offers, and that indicate whether it is successful in achieving its stated objectives.

The decision of the SACSCOC Board marks the final step in the university’s accreditation process, which required the collective effort of more than 150 faculty and staff supporting a comprehensive review covering many areas of the campus, from academic programming to physical facilities. The reaffirmation efforts also included development and launch of the Spartans Thrive initiativeThis five-year program embodies the campus commitment to creating a balanced, fulfilling college experience through the connection of holistic wellness to student success. SACSCOC has reaffirmed UNCG’s accreditation until 2034.

Special thanks to Associate Vice Provost Jodi Pettazzoni, who coordinated the reaffirmation process, and Associate Vice Provost Regina McCoy and Director of Recreation and Wellness Jill Beville, who spearheaded Spartans Thrive.
