"Crip*l Artists Engage with Disability" - Now through April 26, 2025. This group exhibition features contemporary artists who engage with experiences and understandings of disability. They do so by thinking about the ways that one’s personal experience of disability always intersects with other aspects of their life. Some of the artists in the show identify as disabled and some do not, but each has a relationship to at least one identity that is not perceived as normal. Too often, such artists are expected to “perform” these identities by making images of themselves. While those images can help diversify the art world, they can also pigeonhole artists, flatten our interpretations of their work, and make the distinctions between “normal” and “not-normal” more rigid. To counter these tendencies, the artists in Crip* pay attention to concepts that exist beyond the reach of simplified categories, and they celebrate the rich and complex knowledge gained through lived experiences that are shaped by any number of overlapping personal factors—among them ability, disability, race, gender, sexuality, location, community, and economics. Collectively, their work encourages us to fracture and reassemble the ways in which we think about who we are.

More Than My Disability - Now through March 8, 205, this photographic celebration of diversity features UNCG students, faculty, and staff who came together in 2022 to volunteer their pictures and stories of living with one or more chronic conditions and/or disabilities. Both individually and collectively, their narratives speak to the fact that while chronic conditions and disabilities are part of one’s identity, they don’t define anyone. Higher Education Doctoral Student Association’s (HEDSA) mission is to promote equity, leadership, scholarship, service, and community for doctoral students in the PhD in Educational Studies - Higher Education program and other doctoral students interested in pursuing careers in higher education. We are committed to enhancing our academic program by actively supporting the recruitment, transition, socialization, and skill-building of both prospective and current students, helping them thrive and succeed throughout their doctoral journey.

HEDSA will coordinate programs and initiatives to promote community building and professional development for current and prospective PhD students in the Educational Studies - Higher Education program. Future programs may include writing workshops, professional panels with scholar-practitioners in the field, networking events, virtual coffee chats, and more.

Abominable Snowman Laser Tag is an exciting and unique laser tag experience that combines the thrill of laser tag with a fun, imaginative theme centered around the legendary Abominable Snowman (Yeti). Players navigate through a snowy, mystical environment filled with obstacles and challenges while aiming to tag opponents with laser weapons. The game is designed with a blend of adventure, strategy, and teamwork, often incorporating elements of the Yeti mythos and winter-themed obstacles. Participants may have to work together to outsmart the "Abominable Snowman" or even avoid being tagged by the mythical creature, depending on the version of the game. Whether it’s a single-player competition or team-based strategy, players engage in high-energy combat using laser guns to score points by tagging their opponents, all while navigating a cold, snow-covered battleground.
