Volleyball Drops SoCon Match at Furman, 3-0
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team dropped The Southern Conference (SoCon) match at Furman (23-25, 20-25, 15-25) on Thursday night in Greenville, South Carolina, at Alley Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A kill from Cece Fitz coming from Izora Gragg gave UNCG the first point of the match, but game one would go back-and-forth in the early goings. With the Spartans on top, 7-6, Furman posted a 5-1 run for the 11-8 advantage. Despite the Paladins holding the lead for the remainder of the set, UNCG came back within one on several occasions before Furman finally was able to come away with set one, 25-23.
Fitz and Emily Hanlon gave the Spartans a 2-0 lead to start set two with a kill and block assist. With UNCG having a 9-7 lead, Furman responded with an 8-1 run for the 10-15 advantage. Furman held the lead for the rest of the set. With UNCG down 19-12, the Spartans recorded a 5-1 run to pull back within three (20-17) and later made it a two-point game (22-20) with a 3-0 run. However, Furman was able to respond with a 3-0 run of its own to claim the second set, 25-20.
Furman continued its momentum into the third set by notching a 6-2 run to start things off, never allowing UNCG to lead in the final game. The Paladins secured game three, 25-15 for the 3-0 win.

- Gragg was the match leading setter with 22 assists.
