Track Sends Individuals to Charlotte Invitational this Weekend

GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's track team will be sending individuals to compete at the Charlotte Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Irwin Belk Track and Field Center.

MEN

5000m – Mason Rudel, Evan Pena, Lane Prochaska
800m – Samuel Barnard, Andrew Hamilton

LAST TIME OUT

  • UNCG sent individuals to the Duke Invitational and then most of the team to the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic on April 11 and 12.
  • Andrew Hamilton and Samuel Barnard competed in the 800-meter run at the Duke Invitational.
  • Hamilton posted a personal best time of 1:52.11 taking home 22nd place, while Barnard clocked in a season best time of 1:52.11, finishing 23rd out of 100 competitors.
  • Evan Pena led the way in the 5000-meter run at the Duke Invitational for the Spartans, finishing in 34th place with a time of 14:46.99 and Luke Ward ran a personal best time of 14:57.11, good for 47th place out of 79 competitors.
  • Vicky Sosa crossed the finish line in 18:02.54 in the 5000-meter run, placing 57th out of 87 competitors in Durham.
  • In Lynchburg, Virginia, 12 Spartans clocked in personal bests.
  • Logan Ruffner, who ran the 1500-meter event for the first time, took home first place with a time of 4:03.92.
  • Glodi Mvovi ran personal best times in the 800-and 1500-meter runs. He finished 25th out of 96 competitors in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.99. He also clocked in a time of 4:08.89, good for 10th out of 64 competitors in the 1500-meter run.
  • Emma Berrier and Lillian Douglass placed in the top 10 in the 5000-meter invitational run. Berrier finished with a personal best time of 18:13.06, placing sixth out of 21 competitors. Lillian finished in ninth place with her time of 18:19.44 in her debut of the event. Tenley Douglass followed in 10th place with a personal best time of 18:24.53.

UP NEXT
UNCG will take some time off before competing in the Aggie Classic from Friday, May 2 to Saturday, May 3, hosted by NC A&T at the Marcus T. Johnson Track.

The Spartans will also send select individuals to the Duke Twilight on Sunday, May 4 in Durham, North Carolina, back at the Morris Williams Stadium.
