UNC Greensboro’s Women’s Basketball guard Alexis Pitchford, or “A.P.,” is as well-known off the court as she is on the court. Randall Simmons dreams of stage lights, opening nights and the unexpected thrills only a director of theater can experience. UNC Greensboro’s Guarantee Scholar Program provided financial support for the Mt. Airy native to earn his bachelor’s degree in drama. Samaya Roary, a UNC Greensboro Lloyd International Honors College scholar, earned a double major in political science and communications, all the while serving and advocating for her fellow Spartans. “Earning my U.S. Army Airborne School basic parachutist wings was my ‘aha’ moment. That was when I realized that when put my mind to something, I can accomplish it. I came to UNC Greensboro seeking a new opportunity as a veteran. UNCG delivered that through the Veterans Access Program. The curriculum is well-balanced for veterans and provides all the assets and opportunities that we need. Ana Mena’s first foray into the fashion industry began at the age of six, when she dressed her dolls in custom clothing. “My career aspiration is to be a United States senator representing the state of North Carolina. Being involved in UNC Greensboro’s student organizations has helped me prepare for that.
