Lewis Leads Men’s Golf to Fifth Place Finish at Maridoe Collegiate
CARROLLTON, TX. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Maridoe Collegiate on Tuesday at Maridoe Golf Course.
CARROLLTON, TX. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Maridoe Collegiate on Tuesday at Maridoe Golf Course.
TEAM
- UNCG carded a 33-over-par (897) in the two-day tournament behind rounds of 295-294-308.
- UNCG finished just behind No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Arizona State and No. 14 Alabama, respectively.
- Oklahoma carded a seven-under-par (857) to earn first place in the tournament. The Sooners were the only team in the field to finish under-par.
- Oklahoma State finished in second place with a nine-over-par (873).
- Arizona State earned a third-place finish behind a 24-over-par (888).
- Alabama finished just above UNCG with a 25-over-par (889).
- Host school, North Texas finished in seventh place with a 35-over-par (899).
- The Spartans finished third with a 4.82 average on par five holes on the 13-team leaderboard.
INDIVIDUAL
- Jake Lewis moved up 19 positions in the third round to finish tied for 10th place with a four-over-par (220).
- Lewis notched a one-under-par (71) on Monday after carding rounds of 75-74 on Monday.
- Colin Dutton followed closely behind to earn a tie for 17th place with a seven-over-par (223).
- Dutton's best round score of the tournament came on Monday with a one-under-par (71). He was one of seven players in the tournament to record an eagle.
- B.J. Boyce and Kelvin Hernandez both finished in a tie for 36th place with a 12-over-par (228).
- Jack Marcotte rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans to secure a tie for 53rd place after shooting a 15-over-par (231).

Individual Spartans will take on the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by Appalachian State on April 7-8 at Irish Creek Golf Course in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
