Men’s Tennis to Take on No. 1 ETSU in SoCon Tournament Quarterfinals

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team will enter the 2024 Southern Conference (SoCon) Tournament as the No. 8 seed. The 2024 SoCon Tournament will take place from Thursday, April 18 to Sunday, April 21 at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. 
 
The Spartans will begin the tournament by playing in a quarterfinal matchup on Thursday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. against No. 1 ETSU.
 
The Bucs finished the regular season with a 4-3 win at The Citadel last Wednesday (April 10), pushing their overall record to 10-9 and their league mark to a perfect 7-0.
 
ETSU, which has won the tournament every year it has been contested since rejoining the SoCon in 2014-15, will square off with No. 8 seed UNCG (6-15, 0-7 SoCon) in the first round of the tournament on Thursday at 1 p.m.
 
The matchup will mark the first meeting between the two squads in the quarterfinal round of the tournament since 2015. ETSU is 3-0 all-time against the Spartans in the tournament, also winning its matchups in 2001, 2002 and 2017.
 
Friday's semifinals are at 2 p.m., with Saturday's title match set for 1 p.m.
 
April 21 will serve as the rain date for the championship.

Match 2: No. 4 Mercer vs. No. 5 Chattanooga, 1 p.m.

Match 4: No. 2 Samford vs. No. 7 The Citadel, 3 p.m.
 
Friday, April 19
Match 5: Match 1 winner vs. Match 2 winner, 2 p.m.
Match 6: Match 3 winner vs. Match 4 winner, 2 p.m.
 
Saturday, April 20
Match 7: Match 5 winner vs. Match 6 winner, 1 p.m.
